Features of a doll house, candle wax , 07/08/17
First, place the clay over a feature of the dolls house that you want to create a mould of (i.e. a window). Then build a wall around the features so when the liquid is poured in it won’t overflow. Once dried, melt the wax bead and add the colouring in a metal bowl that is over boiling water in a pan. Next pour the melted wax into the mould and wait until its set. Then remove mould.

window 1 (dolls house) Plaster Of Paris, 07/08/17
Similarly, Plaster of Paris mould is made the same way. Once the clay has dried you add one part water to two parts Plaster of Paris and mix until smooth. Then pour into mould, wait until set and remove mould.
I like the colour that the wax had created as I personally think the yellow is the style of Whiteread however the blue could be paler. Also the mould didn’t work that well for the yellow door sculpture as you cannot see the lines and indents well. However the blue doll house window 1 worked the best. It also worked very well in Plaster of Paris. I would like to try and cast the negative space of an object as Whiteread does in her work, so I hope to recreate that by possibly using the doll house furniture.
