Sofia Hulten (Sept 17) B'ham Trip

Left: No 10 Centre No 13 (close up), Rigth: No 11
Pattern Recongition
I really liked Pattern recognition as Hulten is using industrial materials and forming repeated patterns

No 6 Reality Plural
Reality Plural made me explore man holes and other textures like that in Birmingham and I did texture rubbing of them. I liked the idea that this was 'taken from somewhere' and you don't know where.
Centre: No 1 Two Hundred to one, Left and Right are panorama's of the object that went wrong.
No 2-5 Particle Boredom
Particle Boredom reminds me of a puzzle in some way due to the shapes of the objects. Also reminds me of cardboard. Particle Boredom is the result of latex moulds that were made from a number of irregularly shaped boards which were found on the street.  She reduced them down to wood chip and then recast them to replicate their former state. I like how she hasn't created any visible changes.
No 12 Speculative Fiction
Speculative fiction is made out of bicycle frames and street posts as well as locks, metal hoops and paint. I like how this is re-imagining locked bikes into abstract art. The colours also give an industrial feel to this piece.
No 14 Scramble
Scramble reminds me of  jumbled street art. Also the idea that it is a shutter is also where you tend to see graffiti on run down buildings or shops.
